Lima - Pachacamac Ruins

Having returned to Lima, south of the city we went to the Pachacamac Ruins via the coast road south..

First passing Miraflores, a Pacific coast high class municipality of Lima with manicured gardens,up market restaurants and great ocean views from the cliff side drive and walkways.

Pachacamac is 31Km south of Lima on the Panamerican Highway.

The area dates from AD200 and is a complex of adobe pyramids that rise out of the Lurin Valley. Initially it was built to the pay homage to the the God Pachacamac. Later, the Wari expanded the area and their designs are seen on ceramics and textiles found here. The museum at the site house much of these.

Finally, the Incas built a number of complexes including Templo del Sol (temple of the Sun).
