Lake Titicaca

A rail trip on the Andean Explorer was the next leg of our journey. This was an all-day trip, but went through fascinating countryside and with the open-air observation car was a great way to see to travel.

We stopped at the highest point, La Raya. 4319m altitude.

There was also great en board entertainment
En-route we went through Julianna, an amazing city where recycling and the making of fakes is part of life. Our hotel was located on an island opposite the district capital, Puno.

The hotel had rooms with great views..

The morning activity was an excursion to the floating islands of Uros. The peoples of Uros are self-sufficient and are a separate racial entity to the peoples in Puno.
